Safety Rules

Concrete core drilling Brisbane is one service company that rests its business on its unique set of services which consist mainly of core drilling. At its very basic, core drilling is simply a technical task of drilling circular holes in reinforced concrete with extreme precision and speed.

Generally, these holes are created on various materials that make up walls, floors, concrete blocks and asphalt in places where these circular holes are needed for an installation or become a part of a later project.

Some of the more familiar uses include use their in plumbing, residential cabling, drainage slab holes in roadways, and in many other uses requiring such cylindrical holes in structures.

Safety techniques

After some time doing projects, core drilling experts have devised their own set of rules and safety standards to avoid risks and hazards that can be encountered during the course of a simple drilling job.

Also, after some time in the business, project operators (the ones who do the drilling and sawing) have formulated its set of precautionary reminders in the execution of their jobs.

Less water

During the operation, less water is used on the diamond core bits (the cutting edge of the equipment). Using little water as possible allows more efficient grinding down of the concrete surfaces.

Too much water washes away the grits which prevents the diamond bits from getting exposed. By this time, the amount of water used has been roughly estimated by technicians to approximate the consistency of a milky tea.

Right diamonds

The use of the right diamonds means the correct choice of the diamond type that correctly matches the application. The main goal is to save both time and money. Before embarking on the job, a technician will carefully consider the materials that will be drilled on (concrete, asphalt, floors, walls).

Next, he will then consider a particular diamond bond specification of the core bits. With the choice of too soft a bond can prematurely wear away the diamond. Choosing too hard bonds can drastically increase drilling time.

Reinforced concrete needs a soft diamond matrix. For softer materials, a hard diamond matrix can give best results.

Effective pressure

In a concrete core drilling Brisbane operation, it is vitally important to maintain a steady and even pressure while drilling or cutting away at a material. The proper amount of pressure (mostly gathered through various experiences and uneven results) will prolong the life of the core bit.

Using too little pressure will make the diamond to glaze over. Inconsistent pressure on the other hand can cause the bit to glaze over as well.  at the other end, using too much pressure can simply overload the drill and can cause damage to either the drill motor or the core bit, maybe both at the same time.

Speed and power

Setting the drill motor at the right RPM is essential for efficient grinding and prevents glazing the diamond segments.

Generally, smaller diameter core bits require higher RPMs. With regards to power, underpowered drills will overheat, while overpowered ones will cause increased abrasion and the glazing of diamond segments.
